Prefabricated
gable vents come assembled with a frame – usually wood – and
with louvers and screen in place. The frame has a small concave
cut in its edge, so that it can be set into a matching hole beneath
the roof and simply attached as a flush mount to the surface
of the building.
Gable vents are available in a number of shapes,
some of them designed to add a design touch to an otherwise uninteresting
building attachment. While the standard gable vent is triangular,
matching the roofline, there are a number of other options.
